As a Commercial Advisor and Mentor to tech start-ups and scale-ups, Ashley shares his 30+ years of insights, advice and deep industry knowledge gained from his highly successful corporate career, working with the largest global tech companies around the world. He is also an expert in helping tech companies transition as they grow, with his unique expertise in commercial, operations and customer success.
Ashley has been described as ‘the man who defuses bombs’ but is more commonly referred to as a fixer, commercial trouble-shooter and negotiator. His strength is building relationships when things go wrong.
He has 26+ years of experience in resolving projects that get into trouble in the technology sector, in leading roles at global corporations SAP, IBM and MYOB, where he has resolved multi-million dollar commercial disputes.
With 7+ years at IBM in the Dispute Resolution team, Ashley resolved more than 500 major problem project disputes, critical situations and escalations in Australia/New Zealand.
Then while heading up SAP’s commercial escalations and disputes for 7½ years, he resolved over 160 problem projects across Australia/New Zealand, Asia Pacific Japan and United Kingdom Ireland.
Today, he helps C-suite executives and Program Directors sleep at night by de-risking projects to prevent problems from happening in the first place.
Where project-related escalations do exist, he resolves them with a structured approach, and objectivity, applied to complex situations with heightened emotions and risk to the organisations involved.
Ashley is the author of The Man Who Defuses Bombs, an expert's guide on how to master disputes and escalations, and how to avoid them from happening in the first place.
He is also the creator and facilitator of the Mastering Commercial Escalations masterclass program, which he has delivered throughout SAP in over 16 countries and to 700+ people across Asia Pacific Japan, Europe and North America.
